PAT Testing

Aim:

The aim of our City & Guilds Accredited Course is to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to enable them to adequately test portable appliances, correctly label appliances and create records.

Objectives:

  • Learn how to inspect and test all portable appliances and equipment in the workplace
  • Certify portable electrical appliances and equipment as safe for use in the workplace
  • Report any faults with portable appliances and prevent them from being put back into service

  • Introduction to PAT Testing
  • Legislation covering portable appliance testing and the IEE Code of Practice
  • Health and Safety
  • Classification of appliances. determining class I and class II
  • User checks
  • Visual inspection of portable appliances
  • Combined inspection and testing of portable appliances
  • Testing of class I equipment
  • Testing of class II equipment
  • Testing extension leads and IEC leads
  • Labeling and record keeping
